
Cut here - - - - - - - will be based in Chiswell in Portland. Melanie and Bob are using their meetings with the town's oldest tailor as a starting point to produce a series of `tailored transformations', created in response to local area. Their progress will be charted daily in the window of the tailor's shop.
Melanie Thompson (based in Somerset) trained as an actress and dancer, moving into the visual arts in the 1980's. Since then she has directed and run numerous interdisciplinary performance projects. More recently she has also been a lead artist and consultant for various large public art projects. Melanie has just organized 'Shaking hands with ghosts', a large event marking the closure of Dartington College of Arts where she has taught part-time for 25 years.
Bob Budd (based in Devon) trained in visual art, film and television production, and architectural glass. He has been involved in numerous public art projects in architecture and the natural environment, arts festivals, exhibitions and residencies throughout Europe and the U.K. He is a committee member of Artists in Nature International Network and has just completed three projects in Holland and Austria.
Melanie and Bob met while working on a major public art project in Devon, and will be making a collaborative work for the b-side Festival.
